Abby Hatfield

Abby Hatfield’s teaching is intuitive, skillful, and inclusive.  She approaches yoga as meditation-in-movement, encouraging a curious exploration of the subtle, inner experience of yoga while incorporating healthy postural alignment and technique.

Abby has been a devoted student of Yoga for over 20 years. She was first introduced to Iyengar Yoga as a college student, where she found the postural practices to be incredibly helpful for both pain and stress management.

When she moved to Oregon in 2000, Abby was introduced to Anusara Yoga. The Anusara principles of alignment and heart-opening expansiveness helped Abby to develop a deeper understanding of Yoga’s philosophy, purpose, and profoundness.

She began her formal studies as a teacher in 2008 with Sarahjoy Marsh in Portland, Oregon, and began teaching in 2009. Abby continued her studies with Sarahjoy, completing a 500-hour Yoga Therapy Certification Course in 2015. Since that time, she has also become certified as a Mindful Yoga for Chronic Pain teacher and completed a Know Thyselfô meditation teacher training with Kimberly and Jim Carson, Ph.D. of Mindful Yoga Works, in Portland, Oregon. Abby’s devotion to the practices drives her to continually study, grow, and learn as a teacher. She draws inspiration from her personal meditation practice, her husband and two children, nature, and poetry.

Abby holds certifications from the Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT-500 and the International Association for Yoga Therapy as a Certified Yoga Therapist. In addition to teaching weekly yoga classes, she specializes in working with private yoga therapy clients who are experiencing chronic pain, anxiety, trauma, and depression.  She is currently enrolled in a Master in Counseling degree program at Prescott College with an emphasis on somatic counseling.  For more information about Abby’s work, visit www.anjaliyogatherapy.com
