Vinyasa is a Sanskrit word which means ‘to place in a special way’ or ‘to place consciously.’ It is often described as a moving meditation. In Vinyasa Yoga students are guided through a series of asanas (postures) and the movements are synchronized with the breath. Benefits include increased cardio vascular and muscular strength, increased proprioception, balance and overall physical stamina, sharpened concentration and improved habitual posture.

Vinyasa Classes

  • Vinyasa Beginnings

    Vinyasa Beginnings moves at a ‘learning pace’. Often the more common asanas and sequences are broken down so the student can learn and integrate proper alignment and breath control. Modifications are given and demonstrated for the yogi’s unique anatomy. Vinyasa Beginnings is recommended for students who are new to the practice and for those seasoned yogis who wish to revisit the basics or are working with injuries.

  • Intermediate Vinyasa

    Intermediate Vinyasa classes move at a more swift pace than the Vinyasa Beginnings classes. Some of the sequences which are introduced in the VB classes are often only partially instructed to allow students the freedom to move with the pace of their breath, often with music. As more challenging variations of asanas (yoga postures) are introduced, students are encouraged to safely explore their own edge with playfulness and non-judgment. This class in not recommended for brand new beginners.

  • Advanced Vinyasa

    Prepare to sweat, play and get to know yourself! Advanced vinyasa moves at a swifter pace than Intermediate classes. Often (but not at every location) yoga rooms are heated to about 85 degrees. More challenging asanas are practiced while maintaining respect for each of our unique physical capabilities and limitations. Advanced Vinyasa requires teacher approval or a referral from another studio/teacher. This class is not suitable for brand new beginners.

  • Flow All

    Most popular! A little something for everyone. Flow all moves at an intermediate pace with plenty of modifications to tone the practice down or turn the intensity up to meet your practice needs that day. This class is intended to be inclusive for yogis of varied athleticism, knowledge of asanas (postures) and experience with yogic philosophy and mediation practices. It is expected that every yogi will modify their practice as needed and join in full support of a non-competitive environment for all. This may not be the most enjoyable class for brand new beginners who are working with injuries/chronic pain.

  • Flow and Restore

    If Flow All is a salute to the sunrise, Flow & Restore is in praise of the sunset. Less instructional than Vinyasa Beginnings and Yoga Basics, though accessible for most fitness levels and beginners. Dynamic, breath-focused sequences are balanced and move at a smooth pace. Finishing asanas and meditations are held for longer periods—reminiscent of the yin styles of yoga. Class concludes with an extended restorative practice & yoga nidra.

  • Chair Flow

    Chairs are not just for sitting! This class is for all levels of yogis from brand new beginners to seasoned vinyasers. A chair is incorporated into the Vinyasa Flow All practice in order to subtract pressure from common problematic joints such as the wrists, shoulders and low back. This class moves at a swift cardio vascular pace while also allowing for detailed alignment in several postures. An ideal yoga chair is a sturdy fold-out chair or a dining room chair.

  • Vinyasa Power Hour

    Fast and focused, Vinyasa Power Hour is a cardio focused hour of movement aimed at building strength and stamina.  Prepare to sweat, play and get to know yourself! Sequences and postures are less complex than Advanced Vinyasa. Modification are offered for 'All-Levels'.
